So, our American Heritage Girls Pioneer Unit are taking a Wilton cake decorating class at Hobby Lobby together and we are loving it. Today was week 3 and we were asked to bring something flat to decorate like a brownie, or rice crispy treats, or even cookies. It had to be 3" in diameter at least. Well we just took a quick weekend trip and I seriously did not have the energy to bake anything. Can you guess what we picked up on our way into class????
Oh and The Girl accidentally dropped the box of decorated "goodies" and not one survived. Guess we need to make more!

Old Stomping Grounds
So this past weekend we went to visit our old stomping grounds. Part of our trip included dropping a friend off who was visiting us for the week. After we dropped her off we quickly headed to go eat some yummy treats.
The Girl, The Boy, & I enjoyed us some Chick-fil-A. We seriously need one closer to us. 4 hours is a bit much for the yummy nugget goodness. We had a great time catching up with a few friends but we never get to see everyone and that makes leaving so bittersweet.
While we had our SoCal friend here we got to sample some of our garden bounty.
It appears as though we got a little antsy in our harvesting this little beauty. It was sooooooo juicy but maybe a day or two more on the vine and the flavor would have been out of this world. Growing your own food is hard because it just does not grow fast enough! Next year we hope to expand the garden and make it provide for us more.
until next time, See Ya Round Like a Donut!

I think it's time to do this
After a few months of hiatus I am finally back at the keyboard and under a new name. SoCal Marisa doesn't live there any more and I didn't think it appropriate to call myself that. So then what? I wanted something happy and upbeat and something I could use often and then I remembered Granpa and his lovely goodbye saying that I still carry in my heart. It is one of those things where all us cousins smile whenever we hear someone saying it. Granpa is gone from us but he left so much behind for us to hold on to.
I suddenly found myself in a whirlwind planning a move and making the decision to homeschool my kids at the same time. It was chaos, let me tell you. But here we are and we are setting down roots in our new home. We have chickens something I never thought I'd have and we have a good life we are building here. So here it is. My new blog. I have no idea where I am going with it but let's just play for a while shall we?
So that is it for tonight but as Granpa used to say instead of goodbye, he'd say "See ya round like a donut!"
Marisa
